Ovulation is the phase in a woman's menstrual cycle when a mature egg is released from the ovary. If you're hoping to get pregnant, this is the most critical time to understand.

What is the "Fertile Window"?

The fertile window refers to the days in your cycle when pregnancy is possible. It typically includes the day of ovulation and the five days leading up to it. Because sperm can live inside the female reproductive tract for up to five days, having intercourse before you ovulate increases the likelihood that sperm will be ready to meet the egg.

Signs of Ovulation

• Changes in Cervical Mucus: It becomes clear, slippery, and stretchy (like raw egg whites).
• Basal Body Temperature: A slight increase in your resting body temperature.
• Ovulation Pain: Some women feel a mild ache or "twinge" in their lower abdomen.
• Increased Libido: A natural increase in desire often occurs during the fertile window.
